Hi, my name is BoBo. I'm an African Senegal parrot and a little helper at Second Chance Bird Rescue. Here's what it's like for a typical day in the life of us feather kids at Second Chance. The meals and play time are my favorite part of day! In the morning we clean up the feeders, mix pellet, cut up fresh fruits and vegetables to prepare for the meals. It's been a busy week at Second Chance Rescue to prepare for the storm that's closing in on Northern California. The outdoor aviaries have been secured with tarps to ensure all the feather kids stay warm and dry. The planned extension of the aviary's covered A-frame structure (red roof) will provide more protection for the birds in the future. The construction is expected to complete on November 19, 2016. Donations and volunteer support will be greatly appreciated.
Bashful is a cockatoo and a permanent resident at Second Chance Bird Rescue. He arrived at Second Chance in March, 2016 with an open hole on his chest due to severe feather plucking. After a costly surgery ($790) and lots of care, he started his mental and physical recovery at the rescue. Thanks to donors and supporters like you, we custom made a vest for Bashful made of kevlar. He stopped his feather plucking tendency and we started seeing new healthy feathers growing on his
